HEIZEN 001
Posted on 17th Dec 2008 at 4:41 PMYo yo yo, what's up? I said I might do a bit of a journal about my manga sometime, so I figure now must be the time! Anyways, what should I start with? Hmm...
Well, okay, I suppose it wouldn't hurt to give a brief kind of introduction. For now I'll let you believe it's called HEIZEN because of the main character, who is named, of course, Heizen. Heizen, despite how young she looks, is roughly in her later 20's early 30's, and she's worked for years as a scientist, always fascinated by creepy crawlies and machines, etc etc -
I was actually working on a few of her expressions, so here's a teaser:

Yes, she is a tomboy. In fact, she's the person who is slightly to the left on the title art I submitted awhile ago. She is very mannish -but like a beautiful man, not a manly man! You know, a bifauxnen (look it up)
anyways, yeah, she spends a lot of her time creating weird little machines, or mecha, it's kind of like a hobby for her. She's respected among her fellow workers, and she just happens to be a raging lesbian.
Here's one of her homemade mecha, currently unnamed:

Notice how it looks a lot like a bug? Yeah, she's really into buggy looking things. Like I said. Expect a lot more of that.
Moving right along, the story starts with her homeworld in peril. (It's most likely earth, but since in the story space-travel and whatnot is out and about, I'm not quite sure how that's going to go.) The population is slowly dying, and it's because of some unknown virus or cancer of sorts that eats away at the human brain and soul (soul being the..spirit, or ancestery kind of memory everyone has, the natural human instinct if you will, the main base where morals and the subconscious blah blah blah, I'm just trying to be nice to the non-religiousy people.) anyways, it's kind of weird, it's not like any other disease they know, and as far as they're concerned it's impossible to cure, even with their advanced science (This said virus also affects humans differently, depending on their blood types, but I'm still working with that). So, what do they do? They grab ahold of Heizen, throw her on a tiny little space ship, and toss her out into space for months to find some kind of cure --but, she is not alone!
Her partner (both in a working and romantic sense) Kamoku joins her on this mission. Not just because she can, but because she is also a heavily experienced Neurologist/Oncologist/and Emergency Medicine doctor. (A brainy couple, aren't they?)
But yeah, that's how it starts. Two genius women shipped out in space for months, to wherever they can reach, to find /some/ kind of cure for mankind before it's totally wiped out.
More pictures and information about Kamoku will be released later on. Let's hope that got you somewhat excited?
Did I mention there's also a war of sorts going on within the background of the story?
